Just 10 minutes drive from Le Ranch Camping et Glamping, Treignac is our nearest town. Labeled Petite Cité de Caractère since autumn 2017 you will find a lovely medieval old town with small winding streets and pretty buildings. There is a walking tourist trail which you can either follow by yourself, or, through the summer season, there are guided tours. Also there are several restaurants to choose from in the town itself, and on the outskirts is Lac des Bariousses and the plage, a beach area with water based activities and a beach bar restaurant. In the centre of Treignac you will also find the local tourist office.
There are many small pretty villages to visit in the area where you can explore and wonder around the old cobble streets soaking up the history, go shopping at the local markets or just sit with a coffee and watch the world go by.
Brive-la-Gaillarde and Limoges are larger towns/cities with a more cosmopolitan feel, perfect to go shopping and enjoy larger markets, Brive has the famous Georges Brassen food market, open on on a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday morning. Both these towns have airports which operate to the UK and France.

Local produce is important to both residents and visitors alike and with really good food available everywhere here. You can find it in simple country inns or village bistros, brasseries, or establishments with Michelin stars. But it’s not just about restaurants; it all starts literally at ground level, in fields, orchards and vineyards, where produce of the highest quality begins its life. Many of our products have official quality certification such as AOP or Label Rouge; and these are not awarded lightly. They are all to be found on the numerous markets. Towns and many villages have once or twice weekly markets throughout the year; whilst in summer, Local Farmers’ Markets, at which only producers from the surrounding communities can trade, spring up in many places. We are very lucky to have our neighbour Stéphane who produces craft beer. The Brasserie des Anges (Brewery) is based in Chamboulive around 10 minutes drive from us. The production of the beer is 100% traditional and ancestral. The beers of the Brasserie des Anges are the result of cooking over a wood fire and are fermented in oak barrels. The bar is open on a Friday from 18.00h and visits at other times can be arranged by prior arrangement (Languages spoken French and English) more information can be found here brasseriedesanges.com or contact +33 (0)7 77 05 72 17.
Wild blueberries grow in the Monédières area. These berries have been organic for hundreds of years: they don’t require any fertlizer, and the bushes they grow on only need to be trimmed once every 5 or 10 years. Picking takes place in the summer and is a bit tricky : the blueberries are handpicked, using a type of “comb”.
Ferme des monédières sale the wild blueberries, lambs, vegetables. Blueberry pies during the picking period. Open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. around 10 minutes drive from Le Ranch Camping. Information and contact details can be found HERE
